Welcome
At the begining of 2006, prompted by the high number of fatalities on local roads we began work on our first major film project.
"FORGOTTEN CORNER" have a little confidence to make the big choices
What's the story?
'Have a little confidence to make the big choices'.
A young man crashes into a more experienced driver and we see how it affects his family, friends and rescuers through drama, documentary and ultimately, fantasy.
What is different about the film?
The film combines factual interviews with a dramatised story.
It was made entirely in the Forest of Dean and was a local response to a high number of driving related fatalities in a short period
The budget for the film was £15,000. Without local contributions it has been estimated by professionals that the budget would have been 10 - 15 times that figure.
Emergency services, the Forestry commission, local businesses and individuals all provided services for free.
The story and production were put together in just a couple of months, and the film was shot in 12 and a half days with a tiny crew.
Half of all profits from the project go to the Time and Place Campaign.
Why was the film made?
1. To explore the part of our brain that lets us lie to ourselves;
For example, what allows us to think we are great trumpet players or invincible drivers?
2. To raise money for the time and place campaign which primarily aims to get road safety messages into schools
3. To give Emergency services a new teaching resource
4. To see if it is possible to make a message based film which combines drama, documentary and entertainment
Why is it called 'Forgotten Corner'?
When your brain wants to do something it knows is pointless, thoughtless, stupid or dangerous it put those facts in a Forgotten Corner and you do what you want anyway! Sometimes its useful, sometimes its not - confidence can save or betray you...
Who is in it?
A cast of local actors who have a connection to the issue as well as members of police, fire and ambulance services who have personally had to deal with these crashes. See the cast and crew page
Where can I see it?
The film has been submitted to a number of film festivals which CURRENTLY prevent more widespread distribution. You can pre-order DVDs here and check the site for screening updates.
