‘Have a little confidence to make the big choices’.
A young man crashes into a more experienced
driver and we see how it affects his family, friends
and rescuers through drama, documentary and
ultimately, fantasy.
Synopsis | 125 Words
George loses control of his car on a forest lane,
crashing into an older driver. They have to walk
through the woods to find help.
George’s younger brother is Charlie. He and his
friend Jez have a trumpet lesson where parallels are
drawn to show how over-confidence helps one
brother, but betrays the other.
George’s girlfriend, Christina is unhappy with him.
She enlists the help of Mike, who has a thing for her,
to complete her errands.
Janet is Jez and Christina’s mother. She is thrown
out of her depth conducting interviews with Police,
Fire and Ambulance crews who have attended local
driving fatalities. These are documentary interviews.
The characters, drama, documentary and fantasy
styles collide to show what the day has actually
been about.

Synopsis | 250 Words
George buys a budgie for his Gran’s birthday, drops
his younger brother, Charlie at a friend’s house and
has an argument with his girlfriend about a birthday
card. When driving afterwards his frustration and
over confidence behind the wheel cause him to lose
control of his car on a quiet forest lane, crashing into
an older driver. As no help is coming both are forced
to walk through the woods to reach the main road
and salvation.
Charlie’s friend is Jez and his sister Christina is
George’s girlfriend. As her own car is not fit to drive,
she enlists Mike to help her with her daily chores.
They spend the day together with Christina venting
about George and being drawn to Mike. Christina
calls George to break up with him, but he cannot be
reached.
Janet is Jez and Christina’s mother. She is thrown
from her filing job at the local newspaper to
conducting interviews with Police, Fire, and
Ambulance crews who have attended local driving
fatalities. These are real interviews and this is made
apparent by the shooting style.
Charlie and Jez have a trumpet lesson. Parallels
are drawn between the two brothers - George and
Charlie and we see how over-confidence helps one,
but betrays the other.
In the final scene, drama, documentary and fantasy
collide with all the characters and we see what the
day has actually been about.
